My name is Samantha Connell and I am the school counselor. I am very excited to work with your child. I can be a great resource for your child as I am here to support the social, emotional and learning needs of all the students at Centre School.

Some of the things I do as a school counselor are help students establish personal goals and develop future plans, develop confidential relationships with students to help them resolve and/or cope with problems (friendships, changing family circumstances, transitions, decision making, behavior issues, etc.), learning difficulties and crisis intervention.

I meet with students individually and in group settings. Many groups are offered such as lunch bunches, families in transition, friendship and social skills.

I also go into the classrooms and teach the students classroom lessons on topics such as friendships, problem solving, communication skills, manners, bullying, respect and so on. I collaborate with the classroom teachers to find the topic that would most benefit the students at the time of delivery.

Parents, students and school staff may request for a student to see the counselor. If you would like your child to be seen by me or to participate in a group, please contact me anytime. Permission is necessary for me to see your child on a regular basis and a permission slip can be sent home and returned to school with your child.

Parents are always welcome to contact or meet with me about any questions, concerns or updates on your child’s progress.
